Daniel R. Piacitelli

PhD Candidate at Rutgers University

I am a computational astrophysicist studying how to leverage the atmospheres of galaxies to improve our modern simulations and our understanding of the galactic baryon cycle.

Areas of Research

Currently, I utilize the cosmological simulations to understand the Circumgalactic Medium around dwarf galaxies. These low-mass halos are uniquely sensitive to feedback processes, and are therefore expected to play an important role in enriching the Universe in metals and to be powerful testing sites for simulated physics.

Beyond Research

I also work on multiple initiatives aimed to support undergraduates in astronomy at the local and national level.
